Daily Life in the Kingdom of Christ

The same God who fills us with the Spirit and calls us to a spiritual walk exhorts us to keep our feet firmly planted on the ground in this "temporary residence." We are called to honor all those around us, be good people, make the world a better place through practical action, stick together, encourage on another, help and pray for each other, build auction houses, plant gardens, sweep the floor--that's what a spiritual life looks like.

We need to see that scripture combines Spirit and daily life seamlessly. Don't be deceived, spirituality looks like milking goats and operating medical equipment and doing college work. The Kingdom of God transforms everything we do; it's no longer anxious and stressful because we know that this life is temporary. With that hope we can see disgusting things, injustice, pain, and mediocrity, and know that it's not all there is!

Working your life away for a retirement check and then realizing it wasn't worth it might be what the world does, but not the citizens of Heaven. Jesus transforms it all because we do it all for His glory. "To live is Christ and to die is gain" (Philippians 1:21). Until the Kingdom comes we are love and support each other.

Here are some verses that outline what daily life in the Kingdom of Christ should look like:
  • Romans 12:9-18, 13:7-8
  • 1 Corinthians 7:17-24
  • Galatians 6:1-10
  • Ephesians 6:1-9
  • Philippians 2:3-4, 14
  • Colossians 3:12-17
  • 1 Thessalonians 4:9-12
  • 2 Thessalonians 3:10-13
  • 1 Timothy 2:1-4
  • Hebrews 13:1-5
  • 1 Peter 1:17
